Terry was AMAZING!!! He was great to work with and his show was top notch. I'm still getting compliments on his performance and the audience was strapped to their seats. Great clean show for everyone. We would definitely recommend Terry!

Who Is Terry Magelssen?

Terry Magelssen
I've studied my art form since I was 12 years old. With instructors from all over the world, I have something new constantly in the works. This allows me to bring my clients the freshest ideas for making their events outstanding.
I'm a retired Fire Captain-Paramedic having served my community for 35 years. When I was off duty, I pursued time with family, volunteering at church or traveling to the next gig.
My wife Carol and I have 4 grown boys, 6 grandchildren, 2 dogs and 25 acres of timber surrounding our home near Kansas City, Missouri. We are living blessed lives.
Two different styles of Magic to make your event unforgettable... Close-UpMagic and Stage Magic
Close-Up Interactive Magic
Magic that happens right under the spectator's nose or even in their own hands is a very powerful experience. I enjoy strolling amongst the guests and interacting with them. I serve as the "Ambassador of Fun". Using pencils, coins, rubber bands, playing cards and other everyday items, I can melt the ice in the room as everyone mingles and gets to know each other. Perfect for cocktail parties, reception hour, restaurants, house parties and similar events.

Stage Magic
Interactive Magic on a Grand Scale
Stage magic doesn't always need a stage. It denotes a performance that is intended to be viewed by a larger group of people. My brand of Stage Magic is heavily influenced by theater. With story telling, costuming, music, sets, special effects, moving lights and of course... smoke & mirrors, I can weave a tale that will keep your audience on the edge of their seats.
If your event will have 50 to 2,500 in attendance, these performances are well beyond simple card tricks. Imagine the smiles and jaw dropping moments your guests will have as they experience contemporary spins on classic magical illusions. Many of the illusions feature members from the audience.
These shows are designed to play in the simplest of rooms up to the largest of stages.
Imagine the response you will receive after bringing in a tried and tested pro to headline your next big event.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do you need for the show?
Stage and Parlor settings: I need a clear space that is 12' wide by 8' deep. I often setup a curtain backdrop, pro audio system and the props in the show. These shows typically require 30-45 minutes of privacy to set up.
Strolling and Close-Up settings require practically nothing. I walk in ready to go!
When I know more about your venue I can give more details.
Will you arrive early?
YES! I don't like to be rushed and I know you will feel at ease when you see me arrive at least an hour before showtime. Some events require that I arrive before your guests to get set up.
Not only to I arrive early, but I dress nice and smell good!
What do you do for schools?
Magic Shows with educational themes creates "Edu-Tainment".
Conservation, Reading, Bullying, STEM and a wide variety of topics have been reinforced with my School Assemblies. I provide a Teacher's Guide so the magic lasts beyond the gym and even goes home. There's fun for the staff and the PTA/PTO love me!
What do you do for corporate events?
From the Cocktail Party to the Annual Convention, I have a show for every type of event. Tradeshow Booth, After Dinner Show, Training Events, Customer Appreciation Events, Grand Openings, Product Launches, Holiday Parties and I could go on!
You will benefit from the many experiences I've had at live events. From school gyms, hotels and theaters, to intimate gatherings in the home, I have designed shows that fit perfectly for the venue, the audience and the budget.
Let's chat.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Major Credit Cards, Company Checks, PayPal and Cash. You will receive a custom Invoice as well as written confirmations of what you will receive for your money.
What do you do for churches?
I use illusions to capture the audience's attention and weave a variety of scriptural based messages throughout. Wether its discussing deception or sanctification, Jesus is always the true star of the show.
Can you customize your show?
YES! I often weave your theme or message into my script. Often times there is a specific trick that brings the message home too. Weddings, churches, schools and Holidays each have many options to create "magic with a message".
What do you do for family events?
Birthdays, Anniversaries, Retirements, Weddings, Bar Mitzvahs and a few other events have all become Magical and fun with my touch of magic. The Guest(s) of Honor are always in the show. They are celebrated as the Heroes and never made to feel uncomfortable.
